Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, known for spearheading a major racketeering case against former President Donald Trump and others, has emerged victorious in the Democratic primary for her reelection bid. Willis defeated progressive attorney Christian Wise Smith, securing her position to compete against Republican Courtney Kramer in the upcoming fall election.
Following her primary win, Willis expressed gratitude to her supporters, stating, “The voters sent a message that people want a DA that is just, that treats everybody equally, and that works hard, and they know that they have that in me.”
In related news, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee, who is presiding over the high-profile election interference case, also successfully retained his seat by defeating a challenger in a nonpartisan election.
The intense public interest surrounding the election case has elevated both Willis and McAfee into the national spotlight, significantly increasing their visibility and name recognition beyond the usual scope of their roles.
