The Department of State Services (DSS) has reportedly apprehended Bello Bodejo, the president of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, over the establishment of the Nomad’s Vigilante Group. While the DSS spokesperson, Dr Peter Afunanya, remains tight-lipped, witnesses claim that Bodejo was taken into custody at the Miyetti Allah’s head office in Nasarawa State.
Sources suggest that DSS operatives, accompanied by Nigerian Army soldiers, descended on the Miyetti Allah’s head office, sparking controversy and speculation. Bodejo’s arrest is said to be linked to concerns that the newly formed vigilante group could potentially incite violence nationwide.
Investigations reveal that the Nomad’s Vigilante Group had not completed the necessary registration with security agencies, a requirement under the law for such organizations.
It is worth recalling Bodejo’s earlier assurance that the volunteer vigilantes would operate within the bounds of existing laws. Despite this, fears surrounding potential unrest have led to his arrest. The Miyetti Allah president had previously stressed collaboration between the vigilantes and established security forces during the group’s inauguration in Nasarawa State.
