Breaking News: Trump Safe After Gunshots Reported Near Him in Florida

September 15, 2024

Palm Beach, Florida – Former President and current Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump was confirmed safe after gunshots were reported near his location on Sunday afternoon, according to his campaign and the U.S. Secret Service. The incident occurred around 2 p.m., though it remains unclear whether the shots were directed at Trump himself.

The Secret Service, which is tasked with protecting the former president, swiftly responded to the situation and confirmed his safety. “The former president is safe,” the agency stated in a brief update, adding that investigations into the source and nature of the gunfire are ongoing.

This unsettling event comes just two months after Trump narrowly survived an assassination attempt during a rally in Pennsylvania. In that incident, a bullet grazed his ear, though he managed to recover quickly and continue his campaign activities.

Trump was in Florida following a busy weekend of events, having recently returned from a West Coast campaign swing that included a rally in Las Vegas and a fundraiser in Utah. His Florida visit was expected to be a brief stop before resuming his presidential campaign.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that no injuries were reported from the incident, though further details about the shots or any suspects have yet to be released. The Trump campaign has not provided additional information at this time, keeping the focus on ensuring the former president’s security.

Fox News opinion host Sean Hannity, said at 3 p.m. ET Sunday that the gun involved had been recovered and said he was told it was an AK-47 and said at least one vehicle involved had been found.

As investigations continue, heightened security measures are expected to be implemented around Trump, especially as his campaign heats up in the lead-up to the 2024 presidential election.

This latest scare adds to the rising tension around political rallies and events, with security teams on high alert for potential threats to candidates and their supporters.
