Orem, Utah — Law enforcement officials have arrested 22-year-old Utah resident [Name: Robinson] in connection with the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. Governor Spencer Cox confirmed the arrest during a Friday morning press conference, declaring, “We got him.”

Arrest and Confession

According to sources cited by Daily Mail, Robinson was taken into custody late Thursday night at his family’s home in Washington, Utah—about 260 miles from the Orem campus where Kirk was killed. Authorities say Robinson’s father, a member of law enforcement, contacted investigators after his son allegedly confessed to the crime.

Investigators report that Robinson’s roommate cooperated by showing Discord messages in which the suspect discussed retrieving a rifle, leaving it at a drop point, and using engraved bullets. Ballistic casings recovered at the scene carried anti-fascist messages, including references to the WWII song Bella Ciao and phrases such as “Hey Fascists, Catch!”

Background of the Suspect

Robinson briefly attended Utah State University in 2021 on a scholarship. Social media posts show a family that enjoyed vacations together and often highlighted Robinson’s academic achievements. Images also depict him with firearms from a young age, including one photo of him posing with an M2 Browning .50-caliber machine gun.

Governor Cox revealed that Robinson had recently expressed political hostility toward Kirk, describing him to relatives as “full of hate.” Officials have stated that if convicted, Robinson could face the death penalty.

High-Profile Reactions

Former President Donald Trump announced the arrest during a Fox News interview, crediting a “someone very close” to the suspect for alerting authorities. Surveillance footage released earlier in the investigation showed a figure leaping from a rooftop and fleeing after the shot that killed Kirk from roughly 200 yards away.

The shooting and subsequent manhunt gripped the nation for more than a day, with a $100,000 reward offered for information leading to the suspect’s capture. Governor Cox called the incident a “watershed moment” for the country, underscoring the urgent questions it raises about political violence and public safety.
