To kickstart the week, we have curated a mixture of interesting virtual and physical events you can attend across the tech space. The events come up between December 13 – 18, 2021.
This week, the Innovation and Technology Lawyers Network will be hosting their 3rd edition of the annual Innovation and Tech Law Summit.
The theme for this year’s summit, which will be held at the Commerce House in Victoria Island, is “Sustaining the Digital Economy” and the discussions will focus on Fintech, Data Protection/Cybersecurity, and Legaltech.
The annual summit is a convergence of lawyers, start-ups, tech enthusiasts, and regulators to discuss salient topics within the technology, regulatory, and legal space.
Mr. Niyi Ajao, Deputy Managing Director of NIBSS; Mrs. Irene Robinson, Head of Legal, Nigerian Exchange Group (formerly Nigerian Stock Exchange); and Adedoyin Afun, Partner at Bloomfield LP will speak at the first panel session on “Fintech Innovation and Regulation: Getting the Right Balance.”
The free-to-attend event aims to address the primary focus of bridging the law and technology gap.

The fifth annual edition of the African Smartphone International Film Festival (ASIFF 2021) will be held this week in Lagos.
The event, which is themed; “Digital Space: A Promised Land for Indie- filmmakers,” is a virtual event to be held from December 15- 20 2021.
The African Smartphone International Film Festival (ASIFF) provides new, emerging, and professional filmmakers with an international platform to showcase ideas, talents, and creativity irrespective of budget, industry connections, and product quality.
The festival is dedicated to celebrating and presenting the best of short films, documentaries, web videos, travel videos, music videos, animations, VR/360 videos, and photos to local and international audiences.
This year’s event features a lineup of 160 amazing films in different categories created by filmmakers and producers from over 50 countries made on mobile devices.
Audience and participants at the event will also enjoy the festival rich programming and industry events which includes workshops, masterclasses, panel session, special presentations and award ceremony.

The Bloomberg 2021 technology summit will be held this week with the theme “Pandemic Powers: Tech’s Opportunities and Challenges.”
The event, which will be held virtually, aims to explore the pandemic landscape as an exotic and strange one, bubbling with new opportunities and hidden pitfalls.
The full-day summit is built to deliver valuable experience to enterprise technology executives, including mainstage discussions and innovative presentations.
It also aims to provide unique networking opportunities throughout the day, from small-group discussions over shared areas of interest to creative lounge areas for impromptu conversations and private meetings.
