WELCOME TO MARCH, EVERYONE!

There’s more college basketball than you can shake a stick at this month, and we are starting out HOT with 28 games on national television today, including YOUR Marquette men’s basketball team hosting DePaul on FS1. We can admit that’s not the national headline for the day, because there are 12 games with at least one ranked team in action today, and four of those games have two ranked teams squaring off.

All four of those games are on the women’s side of the aisle, and unfortunately for you, the television consumer, THREE of them are all at once. #4 Texas at #24 Alabama, #12 Duke at #21 North Carolina, and #13 Ohio State at #15 Michigan State all start at 11am Central time today. That’s a rough time for the ol’ Previous Channel button on the remote, to say the least. The other ranked vs ranked team is this afternoon, when #18 Baylor (and Marquette grad/head coach Nicki Collen) visit #11 TCU. I think that’s your Game Of The Day in terms of where teams are ranked, but I’ll listen to OSU/MSU arguments.

Elsewhere on the slate, women’s hoops has #2 UCLA, #5 Vanderbilt, #6 LSU, and #22 Minnesota on the road on national TV today. Officially, there’s also #1 UConn on the road, but do we really believe that St. John’s is going to have the advantage at Madison Square Garden tonight? No, I don’t think so. The men’s side of things has #8 Purdue and #13 Michigan State on the road against unranked foes in Big Ten play, so that’s interesting, too.

There’s a bunch more games — Marquette WBB at Providence! — that are streaming only, including #3 South Carolina at #15 Kentucky in women’s basketball and six more ranked women’s teams facing an unranked foe, too. If you catch on to a broadcast that’s thrilling, be sure to shout it out in the comments for everyone to check out ASAP!
