It’s the pre-World Baseball Classic exhibition game that had to happen: Canada vs. Toronto on Tuesday from Florida.
Manager Ernie Whitt will get his first look at the WBC team led by brothers Josh and Bo Naylor that is hoping to make some noise in this year’s edition of the event after failing to make it out of pool play in the previous five tournaments.
Canada returns numerous players from its 2023 team as it prepares to navigate Pool A, which also features Colombia, Cuba, Panama and Puerto Rico and will be played in San Juan.
Canada will send veteran left-hander Logan Allen, who spent last year in Korea, to the mound Tuesday while Kevin Gausman gets the ball for the Jays.

The Canada vs. Blue Jays game is set to begin at 1:07 p.m. ET on Tuesday. The Jays will host the game at their longtime spring training home, TD Ballpark in Dunedin, Florida.
The latest edition of the World Baseball Classic begins Wednesday night, Eastern time, with Australia and Chinese Taipei facing off in Tokyo.
The majority of WBC teams will open play Friday with games in San Juan, Miami and Houston. Canada’s opener is Saturday morning against Colombia in Puerto Rico.
