Mississippi's Konnor Griffin, Braden Montgomery selected to MLB 2025 All-Star Futures Game

June 30, 2025

Mississippi will have ties to the 2025 MLB All-Star Futures Game.

Jackson Prep infielder Konnor Griffin and Madison Central outfielder Braden Montgomery were selected for the MLB Futures Game after the rosters were announced on June 30.

The All-Star Futures Game features the top minor league prospects playing in a seven-inning game as part of MLB All-Star Weekend. The game will take place on July 12 (3 p.m. CT, MLB Network) at Truist Park in Atlanta.

Griffin, 19, is in his second year of minor league baseball after being selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates No. 9 overall during the 2024 draft. Griffin was the first high school prospect selected during the 2024 draft and was named the National Gatorade baseball player of the year. He helped Jackson Prep win its seventh straight MAIS 6A title.

Griffin began the 2025 season in the Pirates’ minor league system with the Bradenton Marauders in Low-A. He recorded a .338 batting average, 36 RBIs, 26 stolen bases and nine home runs through 50 games.

On June 8, Griffin was promoted to the Pirates’ High-A affiliate, the Greensboro Grasshoppers. He’s played 17 games and is hitting .358 with 12 RBIs, 11 stolen bases and three home runs.

The shortstop is the second-ranked prospect in the Pittsburgh organization behind pitcher Bubba Chandler and is the No. 31-ranked prospect according to MLB.com.

Montgomery, 22, was a member of Madison Central’s 2021 baseball team, which won the MHSAA 6A state title, and the team was named High School National Champions by Baseball America. After three seasons between Stanford and Texas A&M, he was drafted No. 12 by the Boston Red Sox during the 2024 draft. He was traded to the Chicago White Sox in December 2024.

The outfielder began the year with the White Sox affiliate Kannapolis Cannon Ballers in Low-A and recorded a .304 batting average, 19 RBIs and three home runs in 18 games. After being called up on April 28 to High-A Winston-Salem Dash, he has a .263 batting average, 30 RBIs and seven home runs.

Montgomery is the No. 32-ranked prospect and the fourth-ranked prospect in the White Sox organization.

MLB All-Star Weekend runs from July 11-15 at Truist Park in Atlanta.
