Messi, a 2022 World Cup winner and eight-time Ballon d’Or winner has completely changed Inter Miami after signing in July 2023. He has guided the team to the 2023 Leagues Cup championship and a 2024 Supporters’ Shield. Despite injury setbacks, his 21 goals and 11 assists in 2024 cemented his domination in Major League Soccer.
Most recently, Inter Miami became the first MLS side in history to defeat a European club during the Club World Cup after they defeated FC Porto 2-1. Following that victory, Messi’s squad took on the 2025 champions of Europe yesterday where they lost 4-0 to PSG.
Messi’s camp, which prioritizes family stability in Miami, is said to be optimistic that the talks are going well. Given that Messi’s participation continues to raise MLS’s image internationally, the shared ambition is a victory for the league.
