The Kansas City Chiefs didn’t make a trade ahead of Tuesday’s deadline, but made a transaction to reunite with a veteran defensive lineman.
According to multiple reports, the Chiefs have signed defensive lineman Malik Herring to the practice squad less than a week after he was waived in favor of the returning Mike Pennel. Herring continues his career in Kansas City, where he has played in 28 regular-season games and 4 postseason contests since 2022.
To make room for Herring on the practice squad, Kansas City terminated the contract of wide receiver Jimmy Holiday. The undrafted rookie caught 3 of his four targets for a total of 60 receiving yards during his preseason appearances with the Chiefs.
The Chiefs will return to contest in Week 11 against the Denver Broncos with hopes of making a run to another AFC West division title. The division-leading Broncos are one of the hottest teams in the league, seeking a seventh consecutive victory in Week 10 against the Las Vegas Raiders this Sunday.
