There has been a lot of talk over the past few days about the Tennessee Titans extending starting guard Peter Skoronski during the offseason and using the fifth-year option only as a fallback. On Friday, the NFL let the Titans and the rest of the NFL know what it will cost.
Like every team with a 2023 first-rounder, the Titans will have to make a decision on Skoronski based on the numbers outlined by the league, which set four levels of compensation for each position.
While Skoronski has played well, he has not made it into the top two tiers and sits solidly in the third tier, reaching the playing-time milestones that triggered his projected fifth-year salary of $19.072 million fully guaranteed. With Skoronski scheduled to have such a high base salary in 2027, it is easy to see why general manager Mike Borgonzi would want to secure an extension.
