Los Angeles Dodgers star Freddie Freeman is set to bat fourth in the lineup for 2026.
Freeman told Kirsten Watson of SportsNet LA on Sunday that he’s excited to bat cleanup.
With Mookie Betts expected to bat third following Shohei Ohtani in the leadoff spot and Kyle Tucker second, Freeman noted he expects to have plenty of chances to rack up RBIs.
“I’ve always loved being in the middle of the lineup with guys in scoring position. I love when there’s guys on base so I can either move them from first to third or drive them in. That’s what we’re trying to do in the middle of the lineup. We’ve got some great guys at the top that are going to be pushing around .380 to .400 on base percentage. There should be a lot of opportunities. You’re just trying to get the ball in play,” he said, as detailed by @HyeseongKimMuse on X, formerly Twitter. “Being in the 4-hole, hopefully there will be a lot of opportunities to be able cash them in and get some points on the board for us and win a lot of ball games.”
Oct 27, 2025; Los Angeles, California, USA; Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman (5) celebrates as he runs the bases after hitting a walk off home run against the Toronto Blue Jays in the eighteenth inning during game three of the 2025 MLB World Series at Dodger Stadium.
Freeman also told Watson something that won’t change this year: He’s keeping his walkup song “Baila Conmigo.”
“It fits, when everyone hears that song, they know it’s me coming up to the plate … I will be sticking with ‘Baila Conmigo.’ It sticks with me wherever I go,” he said.
In his four seasons with the Dodgers, Freeman has excelled at the plate, slashing .310/.391/.516 with 96 home runs and 381 RBIs.
If he has a big year, he could accomplish some career milestones, and not just 100 home runs as a Dodger.
Freeman is currently sitting at 367 home runs, meaning he’s 33 short of 400 career home runs.
He also can make major progress toward 3,000 career hits.
He’s currently at 2,431, meaning if he plays four more years as he’s said he wants to, he needs to average 142.25 hits per season.
Over his career, he averages 181 hits per 162-game season.
