Did Commanders GM Adam Peters provide too much intel?

April 3, 2026

Many believe that Washington Commanders general manager Adam Peters showed his hand with his recent comments to Kay Adams.

Peters, a recent guest on “Up & Adams,” gushed over Ohio State LB Sonny Styles. So much so that the Washington media has a few members who fear Peters revealed what he is going to do. That Peters foolishly talked too much.

Sonny Styles to the Commanders?

Oh, please, don’t fall for this. Do we actually think Adam Peters, who worked for Bill Belichick, doesn’t know how to talk to the media without revealing his plans? Do we actually believe Peters when talking about a draft three weeks in the future, can be so easily manipulated? What do we think Peters actually expressed that all other NFL scouts and general managers don’t already know about Styles?

Have viewers not noticed that Adams initially referred to Styles as “unbelievably impressive”? She then asked Peters to comment objectively on Styles. What was he supposed to do? List some of Styles’ weaknesses? Was Peters to then say, “Styles is overrated. There is no way we are going to draft him.” No, Peters followed her lead and elaborated on how Styles is “unbelievably impressive.”

Rest assured, Commanders fans, Adam Peters knows what he is doing. He is slated to select No. 7. Isn’t it true that whomever is available at No 7 will be someone Peters knows possesses many good qualities to convey to viewers?

Remember, Styles could be gone by No. 7, we don’t know, but you can be certain that whoever Adams would have been extolling, Peters understands his role is to talk up the players, talk up the draft, talk up the future of the league, and that is what Peters actually did quite a good job of with Adams. He did such a good job that, in fact, he fooled many who think Peters talked too much.

Actually, with Peters selecting seventh, you can be altogether certain: Peters has watched enough film; he has not merely a single player he wants, but perhaps three or four he thinks are worthy of being selected at No. 7.

Peters has a couple of more weeks where he may be asked to do an occasional television, radio, or podcast appearance. You can bet on it, Adam Peters is going to talk positively about each and every one of the players whom he may end up selecting at No. 7. So, don’t make too much of it.

Simply realize Peters knows how to promote his team, his league, and his draft.
