November 14, 2025

Two teenage girls from Benue State, aged 15 and 17, have been rescued from a human trafficking syndicate in Ibadan and are now being safely returned to their home state.

The suspect, identified as Mr. Tersoo, allegedly lured the girls from Benue with promises of decent employment. Upon reaching Ibadan, the victims were reportedly forced into prostitution.

When they attempted to return home, Tersoo moved them to another location and demanded N300,000 from their parents for their release.

The Oyo State Police Command, with support from the Tiv community in Ibadan, quickly tracked and arrested Tersoo on Wednesday.

The rescued girls are now receiving care and are being transported back to Benue.

A whistleblower involved in anti-trafficking efforts praised the swift action of the police and community members, reaffirming their dedication to combating human trafficking and protecting vulnerable children from exploitation.
