A prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Adnan Muktar Adam, has formally resigned from the PDP hours after his ally, former gubernatorial aspirant, Ibrahim Ali Amin Little left the party.
In the letter of resignation he sent to his ward at Tudun Wada, he accused PDP of growing ties with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and persistent internal crises.
In a resignation letter dated July 3, 2025, Adnan said his decision was taken with immediate effect.
He expressed disappointment over what he described as the increasing alignment of the PDP leadership with the APC at the national, zonal, and state levels.
“These developments are deeply disheartening, frustrating, and unfortunate,” Adnan wrote.
He stressed on his belief in the importance of a strong opposition to safeguarding Nigeria’s democracy, adding that the PDP had failed to present itself as a viable alternative.
“The PDP has failed to offer Nigerians the alternative leadership and vision required at this critical time. Instead, it has chosen to align with elements of the ruling government, thereby betraying the trust of many who once believed in its ideals,” he said.
Adnan also cited ongoing internal crises within the party, which he said continued to destabilize its structures across all levels.
He announced his intention to join a coalition movement that is committed to rescuing Nigeria from its current socio-economic hardship.
