Juventus manager, Igor Tudor, has revealed 10 players requested to be substituted during their 1-0 defeat to Real Madrid, because of the “really difficult conditions”.
The Club World Cup last-16 clash between the two sides on Tuesday were played under temperatures of 31 Celsius.
Speaking after the match, Tudor bemoaned the stress and heat his players had to endure.
“The conditions were really difficult today. Ten players asked me to be replaced. They were really tired,” Tudor told ESPN.
“It is the end of a long season and there was a lot of stress on the players that takes their energy.
“The conditions that they played with were really difficult, the humidity too.”
There has been a lot of talk about the high temperatures in the US for the 2025 Club World Cup, leading to organisers of the 2026 World Cup in North America into a rethink over player welfare.
