The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria, Yusuf Tuggar, said he is “cool as a cucumber” after British broadcaster Piers Morgan claimed the minister was panicking over a recent interview about the alleged Christian genocide in Nigeria on his show.
Tuggar had earlier posted on his X account, expressing concern that his interview on the alleged Christian genocide in Nigeria was being distorted to fit external biases.
The minister cautioned that selective editing could misrepresent Nigeria and propagate “misleading narratives and allegations of religious persecution in Nigeria.”
He therefore requested that Morgan publish the full and unedited broadcast of his interview.
Responding to Tuggar on X, Morgan assured him that the program would air his comments in full, while claiming that the Nigerian minister seemed to be panicking.
Morgan added that the show is called “Uncensored” for a reason, noting that whether people believe what the minister said remains to be seen.
However, Tuggar replied: “I am as cool as a cucumber, Mr. Morgan. And if I weren’t more equable, I would say you are flattering yourself, but I won’t. Just want to make sure you don’t edit out the parts where you kept referring to the ‘Chibok Boys’! Well researched.”
Meanwhile, the complete interview had yet to be released on the program’s official platforms as of the time of filing this report.
