24-hour marathon praise hold in Osogbo

December 12, 2021

Christians in Osun State held a 24-hour marathon praise in Osogbo, capital of Osun, on Friday, to seek the face of God for Nigeria and Africa.

The Marathon Praise, which started in 2016, has since become an annual event. It spread to other African Nations in 2020.

Thousands of worshippers, mostly youths, usually gather together to praise God and pray.

Apostle Lawrence Bamilaw, chairman of the Apostolic Grace Network Africa Incorporated, and the convener of the marathon praise, said supernatural intervention remains the only solution to the nation’s problems.

The progranmme held between 3pm on Friday and 3pm on Saturday at Christ Life Church, Dominion Cathedral, Dada Estate, Osogbo.

The Cleric said the idea was to encourage people, especially youths to get close to God and live their lives in a productive way.

The cleric said many youths, who were armed robbers, drug addicts, thugs, cultists and prostitutes renounced their sinful way of life and were of good behaviour.

“We are praising God and he is listening to us because God loves praise. In the past, we have tried praying and fasting but when we added praise, He answers us without delay. We are going to move the hand of God in praise for this nations to get better and overcome it’s problems, especially insecurity and killings.”

He called on the Federal Government to acknowledge and accept the report of the Lagos Judicial Panel of enquiry on ENDSARS.

The cleric also asked the Federal Government to apologise for what happened at Lekki last year, adding that said such step would not take anything away from government.

He stressed that if the government doesn’t want the repeat of ENDSARS protest witnessed in October 2020 in the country, it should do the needful.

According to him, “You set up a panel and the panel came up with a report. The panel said evil happened that day at Lekki. Mothers were thrown into mourning. Government should acknowledge and accept the report, Federal Government should apologise for what happened. It is not going to take anything away from government by acknowledging it and say sorry.

“To Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, a walk of peace is not enough to pay for the lives that were lost, a walk of peace will not restore their lives. Let us show more concern than doing walk of peace, this is not what we want.”

He prayed that “the Omicron variant of the Corona virus shall be defeated by the Almighty God in Jesus name”.
