In a recent social media post, renowned actress Patricia Heaton, known for her role in “Everybody Loves Raymond,” brings attention to the increasing violence against Nigerian Christians, particularly by Fulani Islamists.
Expressing concern over the lack of global awareness, Heaton questions why the ongoing atrocities are being ignored. According to local reports, at least 25 Christians were killed in attacks this week, with an additional 6 reported casualties last week in Plateau state.
Heaton, a vocal supporter of her Catholic faith and pro-life views, emphasizes the severity of the situation, stating, “Abortion doesn’t only harm women, it eliminates them.” Nigeria ranks 6th on the World Watch List of countries where Christians face intense persecution, with Open Doors reporting 5,014 Christian deaths and 4,726 abductions in the country last year.
The report highlights targeted attacks by Fulani Militants, Boko Haram, and ISWAP, affecting church leaders, women, and girls. Notably, 98 Chibok schoolgirls abducted in 2014 by Boko Haram remain in captivity.
