The Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, on Tuesday formally inaugurated the All Progressives Congress (APC) Committee on Accommodation and Transportation in Abuja ahead of the party’s 2026 National Convention.
Umahi pledged that the convention would be seamless and free of logistical challenges.
The committee’s mandate includes transportation logistics and movement planning, accommodation planning and coordination, hotel engagement and room allocation, as well as monitoring and operational support throughout the duration of the convention.
Umahi, who chairs the transportation component of the strategic committee, emphasized the central role of transportation and accommodation in determining the success of a major political event such as the APC National Convention.
He said: “Our leaders and special guests must be properly accommodated. Transportation between hotels, airports and the convention venue must be well coordinated.
When these logistics work smoothly, the convention proceeds seamlessly. When they fail, even the most carefully planned event can be disrupted.
“It is therefore the responsibility of this committee to ensure that the accommodation and transportation arrangements for the convention are properly planned, well coordinated and professionally executed.”
He expressed strong confidence in the competence and dedication of members of the committee, noting that their collective experience would be instrumental in delivering a convention worthy of the ruling party.
“I am confident that with the experience, commitment and leadership represented in this committee, we will work together to ensure that the APC 2026 National Convention is conducted in an organised, efficient and successful manner,” he said.
The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, will head the accommodation arm, while Umahi leads the transportation segment.
Both committees are designed to function as sister structures, working in close coordination to ensure that every logistical detail of the convention is properly handled.
The inauguration ceremony, held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, brought together key members entrusted with the responsibility of planning and managing the movement and accommodation of party leaders, delegates and special guests expected from across the country.
Formally inaugurating the committee, the minister said: “On behalf of my brother, the Governor of Kano State, His Excellency Governor Yusuf; the vice chairman; distinguished senators; the secretary of the committee, Arch. Dangiwa; and the assistant secretary, I hereby inaugurate the Committee on Transportation and Accommodation pending the official split of the committee. So help us God.”
