The Senate on Wednesday commenced the screening of Taiwo Oyedele for the position of Minister of State for Finance.
The session began following a motion moved by Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, requesting that Oyedele be admitted into the chamber for the exercise.
Oyedele was subsequently ushered into the chamber by the special adviser to the President on Senate Matters, Basheer Lado, at about 2:21 p.m., alongside other government officials.
Among those who accompanied him were the Ondo State Commissioner for Justice, Kayode Ajulo, and former minister of defence, Tokunbo Kayode.
LEADERSHIP recalls that on Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu wrote to the Senate seeking the screening and confirmation of Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance. If confirmed, he will succeed Doris Uzoka-Anite.
In a separate request, the President also asked the Senate to confirm Magnus Abe as Chairman of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).
Both requests were contained in separate letters read during plenary by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
