The chief judge of Kogi State, Justice Josiah Majebi, has unveiled a new enforcement outfit for officers of the Directorate of Process of the High Court, to improve identification and address public misconceptions about the unit’s operations.

Justice Majebi said the unveiling was intended to raise public awareness and prevent misunderstandings when officers of the enforcement department carry out their duties against judgment debtors.

The chief judge noted that members of the public often misconstrue the activities of enforcement officers on legitimate assignments, stressing that the new uniform would clearly identify them as court officials.

The new outfit features a T-shirt and a fez cap with the institution’s name clearly inscribed, enabling easy identification of officers during official assignments.

Justice Majebi stated that the era of misinterpreting the lawful duties of court enforcement officers under the guise of ignorance would no longer be tolerated.

Speaking during the presentation at the judiciary headquarters, the chief judge said the initiative by the Director of Court Records in the Directorate, Mr Samuel Salami, came at a crucial time when clear identification of law enforcement agents had become necessary.

He reaffirmed his commitment to institutional reforms to enhance efficiency and continuity in the state judiciary.

Justice Majebi explained that the decision to separate the Process Unit from the Litigation Department and elevate it to a full Directorate had proven to be a sound policy, citing improved performance and professionalism within the system.

He added that similar reforms across other Directorates had raised operational standards in the High Court.

According to him, the introduction of Directorates supervised by designated judges was designed to strengthen collaboration, enhance problem-solving and ensure continuity in judicial administration.

The structure, he said, allows Directorates to operate independently while still receiving guidance when necessary.
