The Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has relieved the State Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa, of his appointment with immediate effect.
The development was announced in a statement issued on Tuesday night by the director general, Media and Publicity at the Government House, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
The statement said the decision was part of ongoing reforms aimed at improving the efficiency of the state civil service.
“The decision is part of the ongoing efforts by the present administration to reposition the state civil service for greater efficiency, discipline, and improved service delivery across all government institutions,” the statement partly read.
Governor Yusuf also commended the outgoing Head of Service for his service to the state during his tenure.
“Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation to the outgoing Head of Service for his contributions and dedication to the service of Kano State during his tenure,” the statement said, adding that the governor wished him success in his future endeavours.
Meanwhile, the governor has directed Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, the Permanent Secretary, Administration and General Services at the Cabinet Office, to serve as Acting Head of Service pending the appointment of a substantive occupant of the office.
“By this announcement, the outgoing Head of Service is directed to handover the affairs of the office to the Acting Head of Service latest tomorrow, Wednesday 11th March, 2026,” the statement added.
