The former First Lady took to Instagram to share a heartfelt message and a never-before-seen photo of herself and Sasha at a chic rooftop bar.

In the celebratory image, Michelle looked effortlessly elegant in a sheer black dress, while Sasha stunned in a multi-colored maxi dress paired with eye-catching rainbow heels. “Happy birthday, Sasha! You make me so incredibly proud. Hope this year brings you everything you want and more. Love you,” Michelle captioned the post.

Former President Barack Obama also marked the occasion with a tribute on his Instagram account. Sasha, currently a student at the University of Southern California, resides in Los Angeles with her older sister, Malia, 25. The sisters, who share a unique bond forged during their years in the White House, are known for their close relationship. Their grandmother Marion, who recently passed away, played a significant role in their upbringing, helping to keep them grounded despite their extraordinary circumstances.

Michelle and Barack frequently visit their daughters in LA. In November 2022, Michelle shared anecdotes from these visits during an appearance on “Today with Hoda and Jenna.” She humorously recounted her surprise at her daughters’ newfound sense of responsibility. “I’m like: ‘You never used a coaster in my house.’ So now when it’s your stuff, you want to take care of it?” she joked. Michelle also mentioned enjoying cocktails at their daughters’ home, although she playfully critiqued their mixology skills, noting, “the martinis were a little weak.”

Despite their current closeness, Michelle revealed that it wasn’t always smooth sailing between Sasha and Malia. She shared advice she had given them to mend their relationship: “I said, ‘You wait. You know, you are going to wake up one day and you’re going to look over at that other person and you’re going to know that you two share something very unique.'”
