Grammy-winning artist Lizzo did not hold back after a social media user accused her of using the diabetes medication Ozempic to lose weight. The allegation came in response to an Instagram post by the 36-year-old singer, where a fan commented, “did she use ozempic or did she snort coke?”
The “Truth Hurts” hitmaker, known for her outspoken nature, swiftly responded, questioning why the user followed her in the first place. Lizzo replied, “whyyyy do u follow me?” followed by a series of crying emojis, expressing her frustration with the comment.
Not one to shy away from calling out negativity, Lizzo took the moment a step further by sharing a screenshot of the commenter’s profile in a separate Instagram post the following day. Alongside the screenshot, she humorously highlighted the allegation, captioning the post, “‘oZeMpIc oR c*kE?’ – a fan 😭😭😭😭.”
The post also featured a playful video of Lizzo in a red silk bathrobe, her braided hair tied back, poking fun at the Ozempic speculation. She clarified that her recent weight loss was the result of five months of weight training and calorie deficit, sarcastically adding that the allegations felt “like a reward” for her hard work in the gym.
The singer’s fans quickly rallied around her, praising her for clapping back at the online user. One follower commented, “Love calling ppl out and not blocking out their names or anything it’s about time,” while another added, “And even if it WAS ozempic, ITs OKAY!!!!!” Others celebrated Lizzo’s decision to publicly shame the user, with one fan writing, “He F’d around and found out!”
Lizzo has been open about her fitness journey in recent months, regularly posting updates that showcase her progress and her slimmed-down figure. Just days before the controversy, she posted a video in which she stripped down to her bra and underwear, confidently flaunting her curves. In the clip, she mouthed lyrics from Nicki Minaj’s voiceover, echoing, “The fact that you would even discuss my looks is insane. I’m a bad bitch, always been a bad bitch.”
