Mrs. Mimi Adzape-Orubibi, the former candidate for Benue North East Senatorial seat under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has vehemently refuted allegations of abandoning her children in Canada. Adzape-Orubibi was compelled to address the issue following a recent social media post that insinuated she had forsaken her children in Canada to relocate to Gboko with a businessman from Benue.
The social media report purported that Adzape-Orubibi, who is estranged from her husband (name withheld), encountered the former senatorial candidate in her marital residence in Gboko upon returning from her overseas trip, leading to her eviction.
Speaking via a telephone chat, the former chairperson of Benue Internal Revenue Service (BIRS) refuted these claims and clarified her situation. She confirmed that she was currently in Canada with her children as of the time of her conversation with newsmen last Saturday.
Expressing deep concern over the damaging report, Mrs. Adzape-Orubibi emphasized that the intention behind the false claims was to tarnish her reputation. She mentioned that she had already consulted her legal representatives and might seek legal action to address the defamatory allegations.
She conveyed her disbelief at the audacious falsehoods being spread about her, stressing that she had been consistently residing in Canada with her family. Mrs. Adzape-Orubibi also acknowledged her acquaintance with the mentioned businessman, clarifying that their relationship was based on friendship.
Indignant about the smear campaign that targeted her professionalism and personal life, she expressed her commitment to pursuing justice through legal means.
