In a candid Instagram post on Tuesday, September 10, Foo Fighters guitarist and frontman Dave Grohl, 55, made a startling confession, admitting to infidelity and revealing that he recently became a father to a baby girl born outside of his marriage to wife Jordyn Blum.
Grohl, who has been married to Blum since 2003, expressed deep remorse for his actions and acknowledged the impact on his family. “I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage,” Grohl shared. “I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her. I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness.”
The couple has three daughters together: Violet, 18, Harper, 15, and Ophelia, 10. Grohl, known for his devotion to his family, has often spoken about the grounding influence his wife and children have had on his life, particularly in the chaotic world of rock and roll.
In past interviews, Grohl has highlighted how fatherhood transformed his outlook on life and his career. In a 2007 interview with The Guardian, he referred to Blum and their eldest daughter as “anchors that keep me from completely disappearing.” Two years later, he shared with Time how fatherhood changed his approach to touring, stating, “I used to tour nine months out of the year. Now I don’t like being away from my kids for more than 12 days.”
Grohl’s statement comes as a surprise to many, given his reputation as a family man. While Jordyn Blum, 48, has largely stayed out of the public eye in recent years, the couple has made occasional public appearances together, including at the Grammy Awards in 2023 with their daughters, and most recently at Wimbledon in July.
The Foo Fighters have no upcoming shows scheduled aside from an appearance at the Soundside Music Festival in Connecticut on September 29, giving Grohl some time to focus on his family during this difficult period.
As Grohl works to rebuild trust within his family, he has asked for consideration toward all the children involved as they navigate this challenging chapter.
