These long-range attacks have targeted critical logistics hubs, oil refineries, and large warehouses, reportedly causing over £35 billion in economic damage.

In response to these strikes, the Russian embassy in London warned that the UK is “deliberately opting for an escalation of the Ukraine crisis” and stated that “the deeper its involvement in the conflict… the higher the price it will pay“.

Despite these threats, UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham has maintained a firm stance on supporting Kyiv.

During a recent statement, Burnham emphasized that the British position remains unchanged regardless of Moscow’s warnings.

He told BBC reporters, “We are not fair-weather friends, we will be there in Ukraine’s hour of need and that won’t change“.

British officials have also noted that they will continue providing the necessary equipment for Ukraine to defend itself against the ongoing invasion.

While the conflict in Eastern Europe intensifies, a new shadow has fallen over southeastern Europe as NATO prepares for potential Iranian attacks on United States military targets.

Reports suggest that Iran has considered striking various U.S. locations across the continent, leading to increased security measures in countries like Bulgaria.

Bulgaria has specifically bolstered its defenses at the Bezmer Air Base, which serves as a refueling station for American aircraft.

A NATO official recently affirmed the alliance’s readiness, stating, “NATO is prepared to address any threat and will always do what is necessary to defend all Allies“.

Aljazeera reported that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi contacted his Bulgarian counterpart to remind her that “any party that participates in any way in carrying out a military attack against Iran will certainly have to accept responsibility for its consequences“.

This warning comes after a British airbase in Cyprus became the first European location struck by a drone since the start of the current war between the U.S., Israel, and Iran in February.

Bulgarian Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev noted that his country is “constantly monitoring the situation” and taking precautionary measures that exceed the currently indicated threat levels.

The reach of modern drone warfare has expanded even further south, with reports suggesting that Ukrainian-made drones were used in a major attack on Libya’s Al-Zawiya oil complex.

The assault, which utilized advanced fiber-optic technology, destroyed a power station and ignited a massive fire in a gasoline tank containing 13 million liters.

This incident has drawn international concern, as the strategic importance of the facility means the damage has significant environmental and economic repercussions.

Libya Observer noted that the United States has already called for a full investigation into the violence, reflecting deep-seated worries about the targeting of vital energy infrastructure.

Suspicions regarding the origin of these drones have fallen on armed groups loyal to Libya’s Government of National Unity.
