STILLWATER — It seems fitting that the first recruiting commitment in Eric Morris’ 2027 class at Oklahoma State would be a quarterback.
Carson White — a three-star prospect from Iowa Colony, Texas — committed to the Cowboys on Saturday, becoming the first player in the class.
The 6-foot-1, 207-pound White had more than 20 scholarship offers from the likes of Baylor, Houston, UCF, Texas Tech, Utah, Nebraska, Auburn, Kentucky, Kansas, Kansas State and others.
As a junior at Iowa Colony — a small community located south of Houston — White threw for 1,963 yards with 32 touchdowns and six interceptions, completing 63% of his passes. He also rushed for 678 yards and 15 TDs.

White is ranked as a top-25 quarterback nationally in the class, according to 247Sports.
He visited Stillwater early last month during what has been a busy recruiting period for the new OSU coaching staff.
Morris, who has gained a reputation for his ability to identify and develop quarterbacks, has said since arriving that he likes recruiting athletes who play multiple positions. And that has been particularly true at the quarterback position.
“John Mateer, I offered a scholarship on the baseball diamond,” Morris said in December. “You know, same thing with Baker Mayfield on the baseball diamond. And so, yeah we like guys that play multiple sports.”
Morris also mentioned how he had watched quarterbacks like Patrick Mahomes and Cam Ward play basketball during the recruiting process.
White is both talented and versatile when it comes to other sports. He has multiple Division I offers as a center fielder for the Iowa Colony baseball team, and has run a 10.85-second 100-meter dash this year as well.
