MI vs DC, IPL 2026: 5 players to watch in today’s match

April 4, 2026
As Delhi Capitals take on Mumbai Indians in a high-stakes IPL 2026 clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, both teams arrive with winning momentum but also areas to address. MI, who began their campaign with a rare opening win — something they hadn’t achieved since 2012 — will look to continue their dominance over DC, having won five of their last seven meetings since 2022. Delhi, however, are a revamped unit this season, with fresh faces and renewed balance, setting the stage for a closely fought contest.

With conditions in Delhi favouring high-scoring games, individual brilliance could once again decide the outcome. Here are five players who could shape the MI vs DC encounter:

1. Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma turned back the clock in Mumbai Indians’ opening game, playing a stunning knock of 78 off 38 balls to power a successful chase of 221. With six fours and six sixes, Rohit looked in sublime touch and will once again be the key figure at the top.

2. KL Rahul

KL Rahul endured a forgettable start with a golden duck in DC’s first match. Despite the team’s win, Rahul will be under pressure to deliver, especially against an opposition he has historically enjoyed batting against.

3. Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav had a quiet outing in the opener and has been going through a lean patch since the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup. The Indian T20 captain will be eager to rediscover his rhythm in what promises to be a batting-friendly contest.

4. Mitchell Santner

Mitchell Santner returns to the Mumbai Indians setup and is expected to feature in this game. The all-rounder trained with both bat and ball on the eve of the match and has a strong record against DC, having picked up 2/43 and 3/11 in two outings last season. His role in controlling the middle overs could be crucial.

5. Axar Patel

Axar Patel will be central to Delhi’s plans as captain and all-rounder. He can bowl in the powerplay to restrict scoring and remains a key contributor with the bat, making him one of DC’s most important players in this fixture.
