The collective performance may not have been too great, and let’s not even mention the set piece defending, but there was some good individual performances, Reece James chief among them. This isn’t the first time the Captain has stepped up big on big stage, against the likes of Arsenal, and it won’t be the last … but this season he’s been doing it with regularity, thanks in great part to being able to keep healthy and fit.
Since our goal was credited as an own goal, Reecey’s denied an (official) assist, which is a shame.
Trev doesn’t get on the Player Ratings podium too often — and it’s a bit ironic that he would get his sixth appearance of the season in a game that featured a couple crucial defensive breakdowns — but he’s been far and away our most consistent (and most consistently available) defender, and that alone counts for something amid what seems to be a constantly changing starting lineup.
Still waiting for Moi to find his best form once again, but this was a step in the right direction.
