Jun. 30—Emerson Flaker of Scarborough High was named the Gatorade Maine girls track and field athlete of the year for the second straight year on Monday.
Flaker defended her titles in the 200- and 400-meter runs at the Class A state championship this spring during her senior season. She also ran the anchor leg on the winning 1,600 relay team and on the second-place 3,200 team.
Flaker will compete for the University of Connecticut next season.
