Chicago Sky Coach Sends Strong Message on Angel Reese After Team’s Fifth Win

June 30, 2025

Chicago Sky Coach Sends Strong Message on Angel Reese After Team’s Fifth Win originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

The Chicago Sky secured their fifth win of the WNBA season on Sunday, defeating the Los Angeles Sparks 92-85 to improve to 5-11. It marked their second win over the Sparks in just three games.

Leading the way once again was star forward Angel Reese, who continued her dominant stretch by moving into the top 10 for total rebounds in Sky franchise history. She finished with 24 points, 16 rebounds, seven assists, and two blocks.

Reese has now recorded at least 15 rebounds in five consecutive games and has posted a double-double in every one of those matchups.

Following the win, Sky head coach Tyler Marsh had high praise for Reese and her overall impact after the historic performance.

“Her ability to be in every area of the floor, tonight and in the last few games, has had such an impact on us,” Marsh said. “You can get caught up in the numbers—and rightfully so, because they’re amazing—but it’s also the little things she does that don’t always get noticed. Her ability to relieve pressure while handling the ball, push in transition, initiate offense… obviously her rebounding—she does everything, and she’s capable of doing everything.”

He continued, “Players with that kind of responsibility, you have to trust them. You have to let them know you trust them. But more importantly, you want to put her in positions where she can be effective at all times. She’s just found a way, and it speaks to her maturity. She’s thriving right now.”

Through the first 16 games of the season, Angel Reese is averaging 12.4 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.8 steals per game, while shooting 40.6% from the field—a notable improvement from earlier in the season.

Now, the Sky will have a bit of a break before returning to action. They won’t take the floor again until Sunday, when they face a major test on the road against the 13-2 Minnesota Lynx.
