Tyreek Hill Shares Emotional Reaction Following Jalen Ramsey Trade originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Pittsburgh Steelers and Miami Dolphins just agreed to a massive blockbuster trade sending cornerback Jalen Ramsey and tight end Jonnu Smith to Pittsburgh in exchange for safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, who is heading back to South Beach.
Both Ramsey and Smith have reportedly wanted out, and now the two of them leave together. In total, the Dolphins gained Fitzpatrick and a 2027 5th-round pick, with the Steelers getting Ramsey, Smith, and a 2027 7th-round pick.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter was informed by agents Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey that Smith would sign a $12 million one-year contract extension with the Steelers.
Smith and the Steelers have been linked since May 29, when Schefter first revealed that the team was negotiating a trade with the Dolphins over Smith, who was trying to rework a prior contract that would have earned him $4.8 million this coming season.
The move reunites Smith with Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, who served as the tight ends coach and offensive coordinator for the Tennessee Titans between 2017 and 2020. The two were together all four seasons.
Miami star wide receiver Tyreek Hill was quick to share his thoughts on the deal, leaving fans to believe he’s sad about his teammates’ departure.

Ramsey and Fitzpatrick are both well-known commodities, with each of them being named First-Team All-Pro three times. Although they play different positions, both sides are getting elite talents.
Ramsey joins a stacked cornerback room alongside Joey Porter Jr. and Darius Slay Jr. On top of this deal, the Steelers seem to be making a real push for contention heading into the 2025 season after bringing in big names like Aaron Rodgers and DK Metcalf.
For the Dolphins, Fitzpatrick is two years younger than Ramsey and is also on a slightly cheaper deal that ends in 2026, as opposed to 2028 for Ramsey.
