Popular Nigerian singer, Ayra Starr, publicly apologized to iconic musician King Sunny Ade for an incident that stirred controversy during a recent event. In a video circulating on social media, Ayra Starr was seen allegedly snubbing Burna Boy’s mother and greeting King Sunny Ade with a handshake.
This incident triggered strong criticism from Nigerians on social media, accusing the singer of being disrespectful and uncultured. Many condemned her actions and labeled her as impolite in her interaction with the legendary musician.
Responding to the backlash, Ayra Starr took to her official social media account to issue a heartfelt apology. She explained that the lights and nerves at the occasion initially prevented her from recognizing King Sunny Ade. She emphasized that she had never intended to be disrespectful and went back to greet everyone properly after realizing her mistake.
In her apology post, Ayra Starr stated, “I’m so sorry; I had just walked in, and all the lights and nerves did not let me see. I have never been that girl to be disrespectful. I’m a proper Yoruba girl, and the video didn’t start until after I had greeted Burna’s mom! I’m very sorry to the legend, uncle, and King Sunny Ade.”
